Self Care Tips To Recharge Your Mind and Body

I truly believe you have to be your own best friend or life will completely tire you out. At any given time life can throw you a curveball and your daily routine may get stressful. All the while, you are working hard to reach your dreams and goals. It is so important to understand that self-care is not just a trendy Instagram hashtag. Taking time to care and look after yourself can prevent physical and emotional exhaustion, reduce negative thoughts and maintain your wellbeing and overall happiness.

There are so many different self-care tips out there and they work differently for different people. I would encourage you to do what works best for you and your schedule. These are some self-care tips I try my best follow throughout my day.


  1. Quiet time spent in Meditation and prayer :

No matter how busy you get, always take out some time to meditate and pray . Meditation and prayer provides a sense of calm to the mind and body that will serve you throughout your day. Meditating exercises such breathing techniques or visualisations early in the morning before you start your day  can be very helpful in keeping you more focused and energised. .

  1. Drink lots of water :

I am sure you have heard this said over and over again but there is nothing truer, drinking water is one of the best ways to relieve fatigue and increase your metabolism.  Drinking water as soon as you wake up will help activate internal organs. I would also recommend you drink water before taking a long bath as this will help to lower blood pressure.

  1. Exercise :

Working out daily will help improve your attention span, helping you to concentrate and feel mentally sharper. The thing I love the most about exercising daily is that it not only makes me  look and feel better but it increases my sense of worth. Committing to a workout and sticking to it helps me realise I can push myself further than I realise to achieve my goals in life.

  1. Positive boost ups :

Avoid complaining if you can I know this can be very hard when you are going through a difficult time. The truth of  the matter is when we complain we are basically telling ourselves we are victims, we are not capable of being in control of our lives which when thought of  regularly can bring on depression. No matter how bad things get remember you can control your thoughts which can then control your how you view your surroundings and situation. It also important to yourself with people radiating positivity. If you have some negative people on your social media, then you must clean it up as this can easily affect your day.  Stay positive and as grateful as you can at all times.

  1. Detox Bath :

If you are a fan of hot baths like I am then a detox bath will be ideal at least twice a week. A detox bath helps remove toxins from your body. Soaking your body for 20 -60 minutes in the bath can refresh your mind and body and just allow you some me time.


  1. Listening to an uplifting podcast  :

Listening to an uplifting is a great way to stay motivated, some of my favourite podcasts are  : How to Fail – Elizabeth Day, In Good Company  – Otegha Uwagba, Daily Hope-Pastor Rick, The High Low – Pandora Sykes and Dolly Alderton,  Enjoying Everyday Life – Joyce Meyer

  1. Reading :

Taking time to read books that are not work related  is a great way to escape into your own little world even if it is for 30 minutes.  Books are enhances the creativity in our minds and some of your best ideas can come from being inspired by a character or a store you ready about.

  1. De-clutter and Clean Up  :

Always take out time to clear and de-clutter your environment especially the room you spend the most time in, in your home. Notice things that you don’t really use but you keep around your environment anyway. Whenever I do a good de-clutter I always feel a lot lighter in mood and I feel it opens up space in mind to get more focused.

  1. Make A Mood lifting Playlist :

Music is such a mood booster, I find I can actually get things done quicker when I am listening to music I love, it can act as a distraction  to any negative thoughts I maybe  having and soothe the mind.

  1. Try Something new  :

Getting out of your comfort zone is never easy but sometimes we have to try different things to get different results. Try something you have always wanted to. Whether that is a dance class, a scary new exercise, public speaking or learning a new language.  You don’t have to be good at the new thing you try, it more about being brave to try something new and learning from the experience.

Your body needs maintenance like every other thing. If you do not take care of yourself properly, you will mostly likely feel weighed down, fatigued and low.  Self-care is an important aspect of  life and we should not ignore it. Managing your sleeping schedules properly can also help you stay fresh. This way you can cope with your daily schedule without stressing out. Looking after  yourself is not selfish but self preservation. Be your own best friend so you can be the best version of yourself for everyone else around you.

    Great post ?. So many great tips. Self care is so important and its the first thing we sacrifice everyday. Nice to see someone raising awareness. I personally think exercise, relaxing baths and reading truly do work.
